community-based visual research
approach
Visual research relies on artistic mediums to produce and represent knowledge.
I use photography, video, sketching, collage, and interactive exhibitions to bridge gaps between communities. I believe that visual methods can help media makers and viewers pay closer attention and can open new avenues for incorporating community knowledge and feedback into organizational vision and mission.
I find visual methods revelatory—especially when bridging between organizational expectations and lived realities.
Through visual research, it is possible to gain compassion and understanding. The organizations I work with are inspired by our collaborations to fine-tune programs and reshape best practices that better center the people they serve.

My photography and visual research has supported anthropologists, parasitologists, wildlife rescuers, foodways experts, cycling advocates, poets, resistance radio folks, and musicians as they endeavor to make the world a safer, more joyful, and more just place.
I can't wait to learn what your organization is capable of.
